September’s Employees of the Month at Strategic

Every month, the employees at Strategic Communications are given the opportunity to acknowledge exemplary colleagues within or outside their department. Three individuals were chosen by their coworkers for their commitment to customer service, perseverance in the face of challenges, and can-do attitudes!

Allison (Clink) Pehlke | Purchasing Specialist

• How long have you worked for Strategic Communications?

3 Years this month

• What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

Take a deep breath first, then tackle the problem. When needing help, ask. And if you still don’t get it, it’s okay to ask again

• What is one thing you can’t live without?

Oxygen… ba dum tiss

• What has been your biggest accomplishment on our team?

I don’t know if it’s an accomplishment, but I really strive to keep the spirits up and everyone feeling positive. There’s a lot of stress with staring at our computers all day and crunching numbers to make sure everything is right. Sometimes we just need a cheerleader to let us all laugh or smile to know we’re nearly there to Friday peeps!

• If you could meet anyone in the world, dear or alive, who would it be and why?

My father-in-law, William “Bill” Pehlke. He sadly passed away in the beginning stages of when my husband and I were dating. I never got the chance to really meet him, but from all the stories I’ve heard about him, he was an amazing man with a very loving family.

What is your current favorite TV Show, Podcast, or Book that you’d like to share with the world?

TV show would be Archer on FX. Scotland Yard Confidential for Podcast on Spotify. The Storyteller by Dave Grohl for book – I bought it a week before Taylor Hawkins (drummer of the Foo Fighters) passed and there’s so much about him in the book that it really brought me to tears.

Vern Clark | Project Manager

• How long have you worked for Strategic Communications?

I’ve been with the company for 4 years now.

• What is your favorite project that you’ve worked on at Strategic?

The KCITC job and the Louisville City Soccer Stadium

• What does your dream vacation look like?

A Private cabin on a premier largemouth bass lake with a boat dock directly off the back deck

• Who is your favorite musical artist, and what was the first concert you attended?

I don’t really have a favorite artist, I prefer old time country music like from the 50s all the way to the late 70s. My first concert was Charlie Daniels, Alabama, and Ricky Skaggs.

What is your current favorite TV Show, Podcast, or Book that you’d like to share with the world?

Better Call Saul is probably one of my all-time favorite shows. That’s a show that has a lot of mental meat and cheese to pull apart and really enjoy. And it’s long! I don’t really read, which I’d like to get into so I’m open to any suggestions

• What is something that people may not know about you?

Don’t really have a favorite, it all depends on how I’m feeling and if the wife is watching too.  Most of the time if it’s just me watching I watch the Food Network or I watch “Forged in Fire”
