New cloud features and tools from Amazon Web Services (AWS)

The adoption of the cloud has been widespread and has been increasing at an astonishing rate.  Organizations from all verticals and sizes have looked to migrate their IT environment from an on-premise platform to the cloud.  Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been on the forefront of this trend.  The benefits of migrating to a hosted cloud environment are being realized by IT departments across the globe.  Access to resources from anywhere at any time helps organizations streamline management processes, collaborate on project deadlines and brainstorm innovative strategies for growth.  The rise of cloud services has transformed IT departments from a “break/fix” center to a thought leadership and revenue generating profit center.

There are many features and tools AWS provides to assist IT departments in automating and streamlining processes.  Products in the AWS portfolio cover areas such as cloud computing, storage, migrations, security, developer tools, internet of things and analytics.  As a result, AWS continues to be the leader in the cloud market through spurring innovation and creating new product sets.  These products go further to help IT departments become more efficient.  Let’s look at some of the new tools and features coming soon:

This tool is designed for developers who require the features and capabilities of SQL Server for building a new application in the cloud. Users can move existing applications that utilize SQL Server to Amazon RDS without having to rewrite the application completely.  Amazon RDS for SQL Server also comes with a built-in backup and recovery feature and a push button scaling feature for database instances.
